Kitchen Confessions
Honey Bunny took me out for Valentine's dinner last night. We knew last weekend that I was working long hours this week, so we planned last night as the reward. He's been so good to me lately. The general rule is, even though we both love to cook (and don't ever tell him I admitted this, but he's better than me), I do the majority of it to support him in his busy schedule. (No joke - he has a full time marketing job that's been particularly stressful lately, and he goes to law school at night.) Well, he cooked dinner last Sunday when we decided to have a veg night together. I, on the other hand, haven't cooked in almost two weeks. I've left poor HB to fend for himself with leftovers and takeout. Now, for the record, I put in two 60 hour weeks, but that doesn't minimize the guilt I'm feeling. And let's not even get started on the laundry situation.
So what this boils down to is, instead of sitting here blogging, I should be planning grocery trips and our next week's worth of meals. But I'm going to attempt the SuperGirlfriend mode for a little longer. Today's agenda: 8 hours of work (starting in approx. half an hour), two hours of errands (Target and grocery), say hi to HB before he goes off to class, two hours of Crafty Night, come home and cook our usual late dinner, go to bed at a decent hour.
In all my rambling, I forgot to mention how amazing dinner was last night. We went to Maggiano's, a new Italian place in town. It's a high-end chain - I think it's a small one. The restaurant was laid out beautifully. If the lights had been dimmed, you would have thought you were at the club in Goodfellas - cafe style tablecloths, semicircle booths, vintage portraits on the walls...there was even a lounge pianist in the bar. I'm not a big fan of Italian food, but this was awesome. And we couldn't resist the creme brulee - wow! All in all, it was a fabulous dining experience. Now back to the health food lifestyle....

Ugh. You just reminded me that I left the grocery list on the table this morning. I was suppose to stop on my way home tonight . Oh well- guess I'll make a trip back out.
Sounds like a lovely meal. Mmm a man who cooks. Lucky you :)

Isn't Creme Brule a little anti-vegan? :) Glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah, I couldn't stand the desperate look on my mother's face at Thanksgiving, so I'm no longer vegan. I cook vegan at home, but I cheat when we eat out and when we're at other people's homes.
